Future Promises Foundation: Verlin Jay Alexander, III Named a Delaware Business Times ‘2019 DBT40’ Award Winner

Verlin Jay Alexander, III, MS, has been named a Delaware Business Times’“2019 DBT40” award winner.

Alexander will be honored at an event Oct. 23 at The Waterfall Banquet hall in Claymont Delaware. According to Delaware Business Times, “The DBT40 event pays tribute to a select group of ambitious professionals who are making a name for themselves through innovation, professional excellence and community involvement.

Alexander, with a strong desire to influence change in vulnerable communities, launched Future Promises Foundation and has since been working to inspiring youth empowerment and social change for children, youth, and families through education, positive youth development programs, and leadership opportunities.

Dedicating much of his time to developing effective programs to combat low academic performance and youth violence, Alexander is also a Career and Professional Development Counselor, and Adjunct Professor at Wilmington University, in addition to serving as a board member for the Middle Atlantic Career Counseling Association.

Under his leadership through afterschool programs, spring break camps, summer camps and community outreach events, Future Promises has reached the lives over 1,200 youth in the state of Delaware.

Alexander is a frequent speaker on university campuses and regional conferences, an author of fiction novels, and children books, and a recipient of the Delaware Happening Magazine’s Most Happening Author award.

As the 2019 Educator of the Year Award recipient, he also holds a Master of Science degree in both, Administration of Human Services and Information Systems Technology, and a BS in Communications and interactive media from Wilmington University.
